With the solicitation of $10 donations from people and businesses, AMT raised the money to pay the rent and royalties on our first show, Guys and Dolls, in August 1958. Along with this effort, there were more excited people working with sets, costumes and music…
Fast Forward 60 Years and AMT is still running strong! The organization brings together community members from Alamogordo, Holloman, Tularosa and Cloudcroft. AMT is committed to creating a voice for diverse artists, to nurturing their unique voices, and to engaging our audiences. In addition, the proceeds from AMT shows go to area students who are pursuing collegiate studies in the arts.
Coming this month, AMT presents “STAGE AND SCREEN: 60 YEARS of AMT”. AMT has resolved to put on a fabulous night of music, song and dance! Featuring current and former members of the organization, “STAGE AND SCREEN” spotlights music from many popular musicals and movies. In an endeavor to incorporate members of the community, AMT has invited choirs from Chaparral & Mountain View Middle Schools to perform in numbers from “Annie” and “The Sound of Music”. In addition, featured dancers on loan from the Academy of Ballet will be presenting numbers from “Chicago” and “A Chorus Line”.
The excitement happens this April on the 20th and the 21st at 7PM! Tickets are available now at the Flickinger Center both at the box office and online! All seats are 12 dollars.

The Alamogordo Music Theatre is pleased to announce the arrival of our summer musical “Hairspray”! The production opens Friday, August 4th and continues on August 5, 11 and 12 at 7PM and August 6th at 2PM at the Flickinger Center!
“Hairspray”, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is a family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs.
It’s 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire – to dance on the popular “Corny Collins Show.” When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network… all without denting her ‘do!
Tickets are $12 dollars and can be purchased at the Flickinger Center, The Pizza Mill and Sub Factory or from any cast member. Remember, proceeds from the production help fund scholarships for area students going into the arts! Helping with education and taking in a dynamic show, two great reasons to see “Hairspray”! It all starts tonight at the Flick! See you there!
The cast and crew of AMT’s spring production of Damn Yankees has geared up for another amazing weekend of productions at the Flickinger Center for the Performing Arts! The cast of the show has channeled the energy from opening weekend for two more nights of singing, dancing and all sorts of shenanigans. Production nights are Friday, April 28th and Saturday, April 29th at 7PM. Tickets can be purchased at the Flickinger Center.
Based on the novel, The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant by Douglass Wallop, Damn Yankees the Broadway mega-hit and winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, hits it out of the park! The winning score by Adler and Ross and a devilish book by George Abbot have made this sporty musical comedy a true American classic.
Middle-aged baseball fanatic Joe Boyd (Loren Jackson), trades his soul to the Devil, also known as Mr. Applegate (Randall Cutts), for a chance to lead his favorite team to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees. As transformed young phenom Joe Hardy (Zack Miller), he wows the world transforming the hapless Washington Senators into a winning team, Joe begins to realize the real worth of the life he’s left behind. Colorful characters, smashing dance numbers and songs, including “Whatever Lola Wants (Lola Gets),” “You Gotta Have Heart” and “Those Were the Good Old Days,” are show highlights. Boasting more than 1,000 performances on Broadway, a successful film version and a popular Broadway revival, Damn Yankees has won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Light, fast-paced and devilishly clever, Damn Yankees promises to please!
Come this weekend to see some amazing local talent perform this fantastic show! Remember, every ticket sold helps fund scholarships for area students to pursue the fine arts! What a great reason to take in a night of musical entertainment!

The Alamogordo Music Theater is always busy putting together new shows to produce for Alamogordo, Holloman AFB and the entire Tularosa Basin.
