Auditions for this amazing musical are May 16 & 18 at 6:30 PM at the Flickinger Center for the Performing Arts. Please have a short musical selection prepared to sing. An accompanist will be available as well as a player for accompaniment tracks. A list of ranges and roles can be found here.

AVENUE Q AUDITIONS BEGIN TONIGHT!

AveQ_Detail_Main_Image_Detail Main ImageFor those of you who have been anticipating the next Alamogordo theatrical production to participate in, the wait is over! The Alamogordo Music Theatre is pleased to announce that auditions begin tonight (January 18th) for their spring musical “Avenue Q”!

The laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that although the residents seem nice, it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention puppets, Avenue Q is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere. Although the show addresses humorous adult issues, it is similar to a beloved children’s show; a place where puppets are friends, Monsters are good and life lessons are learned.

Auditions begin at 6:30 PM at the Flickinger Center. Please have a short selection ready to perform. We will have an accompanist on hand and a player for digital and CD tracks. In addition, we will ask you to read a short selection from the play with others auditioning. For tips on a successful audition, click here.

Auditions continue on January 20th at 6:30 PM. Attendance on both nights is not mandatory. The two dates have been set up for the convenience of the performers in our community.

We are seeking dynamic, talented and dedicated actors and actresses to fill all roles. Please remember, due to the hilarious adult humor, language and themes in Avenue Q, there are no roles for children.

show_fiddler_on_6_fsYou only have one more opportunity to audition for AMT’s summer production of “Fiddler on the Roof”! Tonight at the Flickinger Center at 6:30 PM you can audition for the plethora of roles that this amazing show has to offer. If you are wanting to audition, regardless of your age, please come down and participate in this amazing production.

Set in Tsarist Russia in 1905, “Fiddler on the Roof” is based on the story of Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Milkman and Other Tales) by Sholem Aleichem. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. He must cope with both the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters—each one’s choice of husband moves further away from the customs of her faith—and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village. The show features popular theater classics like “Matchmaker, Matchmaker”, “If I were a Rich Man” & “Sunrise, Sunset”.

If you are an actor or musician (orchestra) please come down and fill out an audition sheet. If you want to assist with crew, set work, costumes or lighting please join us as well! Don’t miss out, join in on the fun of an AMT show!

Fiddler Auditions Start Next Week!

5080113

Everyone is in a panic! Auditions for Alamogordo Music Theatre’s summer show “Fiddler on the Roof” start next week! The question of the hour is “What song should I try out with?!” Well not to fear. The best thing to do is to sing something that showcases your voice. Do you want to try out for the part of Tzeitel? Nicky Minaj might not be the way to go. Want to audition for the role of Motel the Tailor? Eminem might not win over the casting committee. Ms. Minaj and Eminem’s music has a great beat but not a lot of vocal range. The casting committee is looking to see if you can sing the music that is in the show. Singing music with limited range will make it difficult to let us know how much and how well you can sing in this classic musical.

With that said, check out the ranges and parts for “Fiddler on The Roof”. It will give you a much better idea of who sings Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass.   Audition dates for adults are May 4th and 7th at 6:30PM. For children ages 6-14, auditions will be May 6th. All auditions will be held at the Flickinger Center. WE WILL SEE YOU THERE!
