Now,the musical intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales and follows them to explore the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. The show covers multiple themes: growing up, parents and children, accepting responsibility, morality, and finally, wish-fulfillment and its consequences. The characters include Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Cinderella, as well as several others. The musical is tied together by an original story involving a childless baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family, their interaction with a Witch who has placed a curse on them, and their instances with other storybook characters during their journey.

Days away from INTO THE WOODS Auditions!

Into-Woods_color-580x310The Alamogordo Music Theatre will be conducting auditions for their spring musical, “Into the Woods” January  6th & 8th at 7PM at the Flickinger Center for Performing Arts.  Those auditioning should come prepared to sing a short selection of their choosing and do cold readings from the script.  Singing auditions must be done to musical accompaniment.  (No a cappella auditions, please.)  A piano and pianist will be available as well as a sound system for those who wish to use recorded accompaniment.  Auditions are open to anyone who wishes to take part.  None of the roles have been pre-cast.  There is no ensemble/chorus in this show – only featured roles.  The music is difficult, so you must be able to sing well, read music, and be able to practice/learn your part at home in addition to rehearsals.  Performance dates are April 10, 11, 12, 17 & 18.  For further information about the show, click the link for character descriptions, vocal ranges and age limits.
