Starting this week we are going to bring you the character bios of the cast of characters of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”. Set in the 1960’s, we are looking for a mix of strong singers and dancers to play executives and secretaries, all with the style and swagger of the cast of Mad Men. Firing it all off is the character that sets the production into motion, J. Pierpont Finch. (Tenor: age 20-30)
J. Pierpont (or Ponty for short) facilitates his own meteoric rise from window washer to chairman of the World Wide Wicket Company by following the rules he reads in an informative little book. With quite an opportunistic, self-centred personality, the role requires an actor with natural charisma and charm to keep the audience on his side. He also falls in love with Rosemary, an idealistic secretary at the firm.
Auditions for the show are May 21st & 23rd at the Flickinger Center for the Performing Arts. If cast, actors must be available for all rehearsals and performance dates. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment. We will get back with you promptly!
After a popular flashback of the men of Camelot, there was a request for the ladies of Camelot to be posted! What can I say, we aim to please! Notice some of the faces in the picture; Lisa Sotak, Kim Riggle-Harris, Jocelin Meesenburg, Jean Peaslee-Aragon… just to name a few! Can anyone else name the lovely ladies of Camelot? Drop a note below to let us know!
With only two months until auditions, it is time to dust off those audition pieces and get ready for AMT’s summer production of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”! Now, if you feel like the name of the show sounds like the title of a self help book, you wouldn’t be half wrong. The musical had it’s origins in Shepherd Mead’s “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying: The Dastard’s Guide to Fame and Fortune” a book aimed at being a satire of an instructional manual. However, the musical which it is based on deals with the story of window washer J. Pierpont Finch. After Finch happens upon a book entitled ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying’, he decides to begin his rise up the corporate ladder at the firm of World Wide Widgets. With the help of his handy book, Finch quickly gains promotions and outsmarts his rival, Bud Frump – who also happens to be the boss’s nephew. Along the way Finch gains the love of Rosemary, a secretary at the company.
There are plenty of roles to go around for this summer production! In addition to the parts of J. Pierpont, Rosemary and Bud Frump, there are a host of supporting cast members! There is Smitty, a busy body of a secretary, Mr. Bigley, the corporate boss and the bombshell, Hedy LaRue; every executives’s dream and every secretary’s nightmare! We’ll have some character bio’s posted over the next couple of months to get everyone prepped for the upcoming auditions on May 21st and 23rd.
Don’t miss out this summer for you chance to be a part of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”! You will not want to miss out!
